Comparison Between Conditional Offer Letter and Unconditional Offer Letter

After applying to your aspired universities, the next step is to wait for your offer letter from the universities for a few weeks. You will get an offer letter when your application has been accepted for the program. The next steps in the process are based on the kind of offer letter you receive, either conditional or unconditional.

When your admission to the University is provisional, i.e. specific conditions are associated with it, the offer letter you receive is called a conditional offer letter. To accept an offer letter, it must become unconditional which means you must match the conditions after which the tuition fee can be paid for the first semester, and you can acquire for the complete term of the course an Overseas Student Health Cover.

English language conditions: When your application to the University is made without stating your English language proficiency test scores, then the offer letter from the University may be conditional depending upon your English language proficiency test results. Generally, universities need the IELTS score out of 9.0, a band of overall 6.5 scores, where none of the subsets are required to be below 6.0. This covers speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

Academic conditions: The condition here is when the University will require the achievement of specific academic scores. For instance,

  • A bachelor's degree offer letter received by a student of class 12 means a particular percentage to be obtained in the results of class 12th to ensure an unconditional offer letter.
  • A Masters's degree offer letter received by a bachelor's degree means the University requires a specific grade to be obtained in the bachelor's degree to ensure an unconditional offer letter.

Genuine Temporary Entrant: It is considered one of the most significant conditions which Universities require. It normally includes understanding the student's intentions for seeking admission. According to the guidelines of Australia's high commission, intentions for seeking admission to University are to be satisfied as a genuine student. If qualified, the University will require the student's financial document along with the statement of purpose stating the genuine intentions for study. All these documents are to be verified by the agent, which may cover the work experience.

When you have satisfied all the necessities required to gain admission, the Unconditional Offer Letter is issued by Universities. So the next step is to accept the Unconditional Offer Letter for proceeding with the admission as the University accepts you as a student. Now the subsequent step for admission is to pay the acceptance payment. This includes payment for OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) for the complete course span along with the tuition fees of the first semester. The universities then issue a letter for filing your visa application which is the eCOE (Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment) letter.

After the receipt of the Unconditional Offer Letter only, you are recommended for filing your visa. Nonetheless, in specific cases, you may go ahead to accept the Conditional Offer Letter for obtaining the conditional visa. But you need to ensure you satisfy various conditions specified in the Offer Letter before you go to the country of study. This may hold for the students studying in the final year and aspire to receive a visa prior to the results of the last year. It must be kept in mind that there is no exemption from satisfying the offer by students.

Therefore to avoid eleventh-hour issues, it calls for careful deliberation of the Offer Letter before its acceptance. For further inquiries, please connect with IDP and we will be delighted to be at your service, anytime.
