What impact will the Covid-19 crisis have on Poland's BPO/SSC industry? The findings of the Association of Business Service Leaders' most recent survey are published.
According to the Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL), the business services industry could offer a significant boost to Poland's struggling economy. According to ABSL's latest report, the sector, which employs approximately 310,000 people around the country in BPO, shared services centres (SSC/GBS), IT, and research and development (R&D) centres, has rapidly adapted to new ways of doing company. In the first half of March, about one-third of the surveyed companies (35%) switched to remote jobs, one day after Poland closed its campuses, and about 85 per cent of the companies followed suit within a few days.
The vast majority of business services centres were well-prepared to cope with the recession and put appropriate action plans in place. We were able to benefit from the experiences of other markets where the virus had already struck, thanks to our foreign involvement, said Marcin Nowak, Chairman of the ABSL Management Board.
According to ABSL, nearly 10% of the surveyed businesses plan to manage further market operations in the immediate future, possibly adding further support to Poland's second-largest job market.
The industry's operations have not been stopped and facing global uncertainties, Poland has been given the ability to expand more, thanks to its excellent technology, human capital, and venue, according to Pawe Panczyj, Strategy and Market Growth Officer.
According to ABSL's report, the current crisis has sparked an unusual - though highly promising - remote work trial. According to the report, nearly two-thirds of the industry's workers (66 percent) used to work from home until the pandemic. Today, the businesses polled said they are prepared to move 35 per cent of their total workforce to entirely or partly remote jobs.
