If you want to certify your knowledge of Polish? If you do, you need to enrol in Polish as an additional language for the state certification exam.  Read our list of the 10 most popular examination questions to ensure that you recognise them!

  • Is the credential test necessary for me?

You don't have to take the test, even if you want to travel to Poland permanently. Notice that if you plan to apply for a long-term EU residency permit or Polish citizenship, you will need to certify your Polish language skills. International students who wish to enrol in a Polish university must also show their language skills (teaching in Polish). Anyone seeking to receive an official Polish certificate of competence will, of course, take the test.

  • Where is the test done and when?

Tests are normally held at a variety of venues in Poland three or four times a year. The dates and coordinates of the certyfikatpolski.pl can be found. To register for an exam a few months in advance, you need to visit the website.

  • Will the test be performed outside Poland?

Yes, it does. Yeah. The examination is conducted by many institutions of higher education and by bodies outside Poland (including Belarus, Ukraine, France, the UK or the US). The venues are revealed at certyfikatpolski.pl a few months before each exam.

  • What is the expense of taking the examination?

Fees can differ marginally according to the location, but cannot exceed:

• EUR 90 – Youth Literacy tests A1-B2

• EUR 120 – for Examination A1-A2

• 150 EUR – for examinations B1-B2

• EUR 180 – for examinations of C1-C2

  •  How does the test appear?

Two parts of the test: a verbal examination and an oral examination. The written examination consists of four parts: reading, listening, grammar and writing. Depending on the examination stage, it takes two to five hours.

  • What do I require for the examination?

You must reach a minimum score of 50% (levels A1 to B2) or 60% (levels C1 to C2) in each section of the test for the passing of the examination.

  • What if I fail? What happens?

As soon as you feel ready, you can repeat your test (no waiting period is required).

  • Were there supplies required for preparation?

To find exercise sheets, practise exercises and a list of research materials recommended, please visit certyfikatpolski.pl.

  • Are the contestants subject to an age limit?

To apply for an examination you must be at least 14. An examination specially tailored for young students is offered to candidates under 18. No higher age cap exists.

  • What is the time limit of the certificate?

There is no expiry date for the certificate.

Good luck to the test!
