The Polish business services ecosystem has developed rapidly over the past decade, attracting Poland an ever-growing number of international investors and qualified professionals. What is the appearance of the Polish BPO/SSC industry in 2020? The Business Service Leaders Association has released its latest survey.
300,000 and increasing
The new "EMEA Enterprise Services Landscape" study by ABSL offers comprehensive insights into corporate services industries in 18 EMEA countries like Poland. The survey, co-written by Deloitte, JJL, and Randstad, reports Poland has been one of the main drivers of economic growth in recent years in terms of the prosperous BPO/SSC sector. Today, the sector employs over 300,000 professionals at more than 1400 BPO, IT, SSC/GBS (shared services centres) and R&D (research and development) centres throughout the region. The sector employs a large number of professionals.
The main Polish business centres, which are based in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw and Tricity, are becoming increasingly appealing to international investors even in smaller towns such as Białystok, Kielce or Radom. As ABSL has pointed out, the nation has been a regional pioneer for the total number of centres and jobs in the sector. About 400,000 persons are expected to be employed in the Polish company service sector by 2022 - the COVID-19 pandemic seems to have little impact to date on future recruiting plans.
City | Number of centres |
Warsaw | 270 |
Kraków | 225 |
Wrocław | 175 |
Tricity | 152 |
Katowice | 105 |

Most expertise on offer
Over the years, the business services sector in Poland has developed from mainly regulatory processes to dynamic business tasks: "As the market matures, Polish centres, from end to end, are deeper and more active in the whole processes" (ABSL).
Today, the nation offers a wide variety of finance and accounting services, HR, applications, IT or logistics and procurement services. In the industry, HR professionals, FP&A (financial planning and analysis) and computer science engineers are among the most demanding professionals. German-speaking experts are really wanted, but employers are still highly respected for their knowledge of French, Italian, Spanish or any Nordic language. Polish, Russian, Spanish and French are the top four languages spoken in Polish business facilities.
