In Poland, how much of your income will be spent on rent? The answer to this question is dependent on a number of factors, including the size of your room or apartment, its quality, location, and local amenities. In general, Warsaw is the most expensive city in Poland and, according to Deloitte's 2021 Property Index, has the highest average rent in Central Europe (EUR 15.1 per m2/month). According to the survey, renting housing in the Polish capital is even more expensive than in several Western European cities, such as Dublin (EUR 13.18 per m2/month), Rome (EUR 13.09 per m2/month), Manchester (EUR 11.12 per m2/month), or Berlin (EUR 10.10 m2/month). Given that the average monthly salary in Poland is around PLN 5,500 (roughly EUR 1,200), it is not surprising that many young people wait until they are in their late twenties to leave their parents' homes. Nonetheless, many foreign residents find Poland to be significantly more affordable than most Western European countries, particularly when working remotely for a foreign business.

The table below provides an overview of average rental prices in Warsaw in the second half of 2021. If you are thinking about buying a home in Poland, the second table will show you the average price per square meter in key Polish cities.
