Poland has 13 public holidays throughout the year, as shown in the table below. Employees are entitled to an extra paid day off on top of their yearly leave if a holiday falls on a Saturday (for example, New Year's Day). When a public holiday falls on a Thursday or Tuesday, many Poles opt for a one-day vacation to extend their weekend.
