Poland is a huge country with a long history, a vibrant culture, and hospitable citizens. Poland is drawing an increasing number of international students as a result of recent internationalization efforts. The country provides a world-class education for a low tuition charge and a low cost of living.

A quick overview of Poland

Poland shares borders with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, and Russia in Central Europe (via its Kaliningrad exclave).

Warsaw, Poland's capital and largest city, is a vibrant, modern metropolis with numerous colleges offering a diverse range of degrees. Cracow, Poznan, Lodz, and Wroclaw are among the other significant university cities.

Higher education in Poland has a nearly 800-year history, and the country presently has over 400 institutions, several of which offer English-language study programs.

The oldest institution in Poland, founded in 1364, is Jagiellonian University in Cracow. It is the alma mater of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, Pope John Paul II, and two Nobel laureates. The University of Warsaw is Poland's largest university. It, too, was founded in 1816 and boasts a distinguished alumni list that includes Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, and famed composer Frédéric Chopin.

As a student, I was able to live in Poland.

Studying in Poland is appealing not just because of the academic opportunities, but also because of the good quality of life provided. Over the last two decades, the country's economy has exploded. It is contemporary, clean, and safe, and it provides all of the social and cultural opportunities found elsewhere, but at a significantly lower cost of living than Western Europe, which is why international students flock there.

Fees for tuition and living expenses

For students, Poland is a desirable destination. International students can study in Poland's public universities for 2,000 EUR per year for a first degree, with costs for higher degrees and vocational programs averaging 3000 EUR per year.

The cost of living in Poland is also remarkably inexpensive, in comparison to most other European countries. A shared room in a student dormitory can cost less than 100 EUR per month. Overall, depending on the city and lifestyle desired, you may be able to live on less than 500 EUR per month.
