Accommodation

In Poland, there are several different choices for arranging student accommodation. They vary depending on the town and the institution of higher education you select. Many Polish HEIs have dormitories of their own, which are typically the cheapest available choice. Most Polish students, however, prefer renting a space in a private apartment.

The value of the student houses depends on the specific HEI. The cost of lodging in a dormitory is typically around EUR 60-80 per month for a shared room and EUR 100-150 per month for a single room. However, even between different student houses of the same HEI, the quality of the dormitories will vary greatly, so it's good to do some study before the final decision. The friendly and supportive environment in the student houses is what does not vary.

Renting a room in a larger apartment is very popular in Poland. This is how most out-of-town students share flats. The cost varies between towns and depends significantly on the location of the apartment as well as the room's size and quality. Usually, the monthly rent is between EUR 150 and 200. A deposit of a similar sum may be requested by certain landlords. If you don't have mates to live with, don't worry. An awesome opportunity is to share a flat with locals: you can pay for the accommodation and get great friends for free! And you can rent an independent apartment if you just don't want to share. For the smallest, one-room apartment, the rent starts at about EUR 300. (in Warsaw).
