Health insurance

Students from EU/EEA countries have access to healthcare in Poland, provided that they have valid medical insurance coverage under their country's national insurance scheme. In Poland, the holder of a valid passport, student identification card or doctoral student identity card, and a valid European Health Insurance Card (Europejska Karta Ubezpieczenia Zdrowotnego) are entitled to free medical treatment.

It is recommended, if possible, that students from non-EU/EEA countries buy their own foreign medical insurance before arriving in Poland. Otherwise, they must sign a mutual health insurance policy with the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia-NFZ) and pay their own insurance fees of approximately EUR 15 per month. Students are entitled to free medical services under this insurance plan and can use university health care clinics and health centers. Both international students also have the option of buying extra insurance for injuries.
