Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, more than 474,500 people have entered Poland, according to the Polish government. In an email exchange, a Polish government official revealed that on March 1, approximately 98,000 refugees entered Polish territory. Furthermore, the same revealed that between midnight and 7 a.m. yesterday, 21,500 people entered Poland from Ukraine.

Poland, like the other Ukraine's neighboring countries, has been continuously assisting refugees from Ukraine by increasing the number of staff members and maintaining all border crossing points open.

“Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Polish Border Guard has strengthened the staffing of border crossings. All border crossings are still operational, and their capacity has been increased. There is pedestrian and vehicle traffic at all eight border crossings with Ukraine,” the Polish authorities said.

According to Polish officials, governors of the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodships, as well as governors of other regions throughout Poland, have set up reception points for people fleeing Ukraine. They revealed that there are already 27 refugee reception centers located throughout the country.

“All persons fleeing from Ukraine from the armed conflict, who do not have an assured place of stay in Poland, can go to the reception point,” the authorities added.

All refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine are given food, basic medical care, and a place to stay at one of Poland's reception centers. In addition to receiving basic medical care at one of the reception points, refugees have free access to other Polish health services.

Aside from the aforementioned, the Polish authorities have established 22 information points for Ukrainian refugees in all voivodship cities, particularly at railway stations. Furthermore, information points have been established in Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science, as well as at Chopin Airport.

"Firefighters in the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie Voivodships, supported by firefighters from other voivodships, assist refugees from Ukraine who are seeking help in our country. The firefighters of the State Fire Service and Voluntary Fire Service also support the operation of reception points by providing tents with heaters, beds, chairs, tables, etc.,” Polish authorities said

In order to ensure the safety of Ukrainian refugees, Poland has also stationed police officers at all points where they arrive.
