On May 31, the Cyprus authorities revised the COVID-19 epidemiologically high-risk list.
Cyprus began using the traffic light system, categorizing countries in green, red, and orange lists based on their COVID-19 situation, based on the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) regulation, which includes the European Union, European Economic Area, and some third countries.

When landing in Cyprus, visitors are subject to entry restrictions based on the category in which their nation falls.

Beginning May 31, Cyprus will no longer require any COVID-19 test certificate or quarantine for visitors from countries added to the green list.

The new green list, which represents countries with minimal COVID-19 risk, includes the following countries:

  • Member states of the European Union: Malta is a country in the Mediterranean Sea
  • Schengen participants: Iceland
  • Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Israel, and Australia are among the third-world countries.

Passengers from countries on the orange list must provide a negative PCR laboratory test result within 72 hours of departure.

Other nations added to the orange list from the higher risk category (red list) include Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Italy, in addition to Romania, the United States of America, and Thailand, which were moved to this group last week.

Cyprus currently has the following nations on its orange list:

  • Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Romania, Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Italy are all European Union members.
  • Norway is a Schengen member.
  • Third-world countries include the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and China (including Hong Kong and Macau)

Cyprus authorities demand a COVID-19 negative test result at entry crossings or taken after the travelers enter the country for visitors from the heightened risk category or red list countries. The following countries are also on the red list:

  • Member nations of the European Union include Belgium, France, Croatia, Luxembourg, Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, Denmark, Slovenia, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Slovakia, and Lithuania. Microstates include Andorra, San Marino, Monaco, and Vatican City.
  • Liechtenstein and Switzerland are Schengen members.
  • Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Rwanda, Russia, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Belarus, Qatar, Serbia, Thailand, Armenia, Georgia, Bahrein, and Kuwait are among the third-world countries.

Countries that do not appear on any of the above lists are listed in the grey category, which allows visitors to enter Cyprus only if they are Swiss citizens, Cypriot citizens and family members, European or EEA citizens, or citizens of a third country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway). Travel to the island is also permitted for those entitled to enter Cyprus under the Vienna Convention, individuals who legitimately reside in the nation, and some third countries with specific permission.

Passengers in this group must undergo a PCR test at a qualified facility and present a negative result record, whereas all other categories, except for EEA and other European citizens, must fund the testing costs themselves.
