Higher Education Institutions

In Poland, there are two types of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs): public (state) and private (non-public) institutions. Academic and technical colleges are the two primary groups of these institutions.

The academic category includes the approval of at least one science or artistic discipline as well as the awarding of scientific categories A+, A, or B+. First-cycle (bachelor's degree) and second-cycle (master's degree) examinations, as well as long-cycle studies, are conducted at the research college. It may also provide doctoral students (Ph.D.) with schooling.

The same requirements that apply to higher education do not apply to technical education. It will only be able to offer realistic schooling. First- and second-cycle trials, as well as long-cycle studies, are conducted at a vocational-type school.

The Polish Accreditation Committee, which is an autonomous institution tasked with ensuring and improving educational excellence, oversees all forms of HEIs.

Structure of studies in Poland

Full-time and extramural higher education institutions exist. In European higher education, Poland follows the Bologna Process guidance. Studies are carried out at three levels: first-cycle, second-degree, and long-cycle studies.

ECTS credits

In the process of integration between Europe's higher education systems, the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) is the norm accepted by all universities in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

Examinations & grading

All higher education establishments are expected to provide exams at the end of their courses. Several individual exams or assessments can be administered in different sections of a subject. During the test session, oral and written exams are usually held at the end of each course.

Recognition of degrees

A degree conferred by an agency located within an EU, OECD, or EFTA country's educational framework. A foreign degree conferred by a non-Polish institution can be accepted as equal to a Polish degree either by a mutual arrangement or (if no such agreements exist) by nostrification.

What are study poland intakes?

There are two kinds of intakes in colleges abroad - Fall and Spring. Most universities and colleges abroad begin their fall intake in September (which lasts till December), and the Spring intake starts in January (which lasts till May). Few universities and colleges also intake students in April during Summer.
