Temporary stay permit for pursuing higher education studies

A temporary stay permit for pursuing 1st degree (undergraduate), 2nd degree (graduate), integrated Master’s degree or 3rd degree (doctoral) studies program is granted to a foreigner whose aim of their stay in Poland is to undertake or to continue the full-time higher studies or full-time doctoral studies. This permit is also granted when these studies are a continuation or are complementary to the studies undertaken by the foreigner in the territory of other EU Member State.

The foreigner who would like to obtain such a permit needs to present a statement from the academic institution certifying their admission or continuation of studies together with the proof of payment if the studies in question are fee-paying.

Additionally, he or she must hold health insurance or a confirmation of covering the costs of medical treatment in the territory of Poland issued by the insurer. The foreigner interested in obtaining the permit in question also needs to have sufficient funds to cover the expenses of maintenance in Poland, return travel to their native country or the country they used to live in, costs of transit to a 3rd country that grants permission for entrance as well as the costs of the studies.

It should be remarked, that the temporary stay permit for pursuing 1st degree (undergraduate), 2nd degree (graduate), integrated Master’s degree, or 3rd degree (doctoral) studies program is also granted to a foreigner who intends to undertake a preparatory course for these studies held in the Polish language.
